You've Finished the Intro Course. Now What? Inside Unfold Den's Membership

Finishing a four-part sewing series is a real accomplishment. You showed up, you learned to thread the machine, you figured out seam allowances, you made many projects. And somewhere in there, you realized that sewing is actually something you want to keep doing — not just once in a while, not just in a class, but regularly and on your own terms.

The problem is: sewing is one of those skills that is easy to pick up, but hard to master. Without the over-the-shoulder coaching when something goes wrong, it can feel like you're sewing in a vacuum, without the support, energy, and company that made the class feel so good.

That's exactly the gap that Unfold Den memberships are designed to fill.

What a Membership Actually Is

A studio membership at Unfold Den gives you ongoing access to the studio — the machines, the oversized cutting tables, the storage, and the community — outside of a structured class format. You come when it works for you. You work on whatever you're making. You have expert help nearby when you need it and a room full of other makers around you.

It's the difference between taking a class and having a place.

We offer two membership tiers:

Half Yard Membership — $120/month Four hours of studio time per month, plus shared storage for your current project. This is the right fit if you're sewing regularly but not constantly — someone who wants a dedicated chunk of studio time each month and a place to stash their work in progress between sessions.

Full Yard Membership — $195/month Unlimited studio hours, plus a private cubby for your materials and projects. This is for the person who wants the studio to genuinely be their sewing home — show up whenever, stay as long as you like, and have your own dedicated corner of the space.

What's Included at Both Tiers

Every membership — Half Yard and Full Yard — includes:

Flexible session lengths. Come for an hour, come for four. Work at whatever pace your project and your schedule require.

A thorough orientation when you join. Before you start using the studio independently, we walk you through everything: the machines, the tools, how the space is organized, what's available and where. You're not walking into an unfamiliar room and figuring it out alone.

Discounted early class registration. Members get first access and reduced pricing on workshops and specialty classes. If something fills up fast — and our smaller workshops tend to — you're the first to know and the first to book.

Monthly members-only get-togethers. Once a month, we hold a gathering specifically for members. It's low-key, it's social, and it's a good way to meet the other people using the studio.

Quarterly guest expert sessions. Four times a year, we bring in a guest — a designer, a specialist in a particular technique, someone with a specific area of knowledge — for a session open only to members. These aren't classes exactly; they're more like conversations with someone who knows a lot and is generous with that knowledge.

The Founding Member Offer

We just launched memberships, and to mark that we're doing something we won't do again: the first 10 people to join as Full Yard Members get the membership for $125/month for the first year — a savings of $70/month, (That's $840 saved!).

Use code FOUNDINGMEMBER at checkout.

Ten spots. That's the whole offer. Once those are filled, the founding rate closes.

If you've been waiting for a reason to commit to a regular sewing practice, this is a pretty good one.

Who Memberships Are For

The one requirement is that you've completed the four-part Intro to Sewing Series at Unfold Den. That's not a gatekeeping rule — it's a practical one. The studio is an independent working space, and members are expected to be able to set up and run a machine, troubleshoot basic issues, and work through a project without step-by-step instruction. The ITS gives you all of that foundation.

If you haven't done the series yet, it's available on a rolling build-your-own-dates schedule. You can book sessions individually around your calendar and work through all four parts at your own pace.

Beyond that requirement: memberships are for anyone who wants to sew more. Beginners who just finished ITS and want to keep the momentum. Intermediate sewists who are tired of improvising a workspace at home. Quilters who need a real cutting table. People who bought a machine years ago and want to actually use it. People who sew but have always done it alone and want company.

The studio is a surprisingly fun place to spend an afternoon.

A Note on What You're Joining

Unfold Den is a small studio. We know the people who come here. The membership model is designed to keep it that way — a manageable number of members who have consistent access to real equipment and real expertise, in a space that doesn't feel crowded or anonymous.

This isn't a gym membership where you swipe a card and disappear into the facility. It's a studio with people in it who are genuinely interested in what you're making.

That's the pitch. The machines and tools are great too 😜

FAQ: Unfold Den Studio Memberships

Do I need to have taken classes at Unfold Den before joining? Yes — membership requires completion of the four-part Intro to Sewing Series. This ensures you can work independently in the studio. If you haven't done ITS yet, you can book it on a rolling basis and join after.

What's the difference between Half Yard and Full Yard? Half Yard gives you 4 hours of studio time per month with shared storage. Full Yard gives you unlimited hours and a private cubby. Both include all the membership perks (orientation, monthly gatherings, early class registration, quarterly guest sessions).

Is the founding member rate available for Half Yard? The founding member offer only applies to the Full Yard Membership — $125/month for the first year (normally $195/month). Use code FOUNDINGMEMBER at checkout. Only 10 spots available.

What machines are available in the studio? Unfold Den has a full room of sewing machines plus oversized cutting tables and all the tools you'd need for a session. Specifics on machine types are available when you tour or contact us.

What if I want to bring a project I've been working on at home? That's exactly what the studio is for. Bring your project, your fabric, your pattern — whatever you're in the middle of. The shared storage (Half Yard) or private cubby (Full Yard) is there for materials you want to leave between sessions.

Can I upgrade from Half Yard to Full Yard later? Yes — reach out and we'll sort it out.
