Sewing Summer Camps in Denver: What Our Sewing Classes Are All About

Screen time is going to peak this summer. You already know it. The question is what to do about it.

If you're hunting for a summer activity that actually holds your kid's attention — one that produces something real, builds a skill they'll use for the rest of their life, and doesn't involve staring at another device — you've landed in the right place.

Unfold Den's summer sewing sessions are designed for kids (who we affectionately call seamsters) who are ready to make something. Not a macaroni-glued frame. Not a lanyard. Actual wearable, usable things they'll be proud of — thrift-flipped garments, tote bags, patchwork projects made from salvaged fabric. Real sewing. Real skills.

Here's everything you need to know.

What Is It?

Unfold Den's summer sewing programs, offered in two tracks, morning and afternoon, that run simultaneously the same week — so siblings or friends of different ages can attend together.

All sessions are led by experienced Unfold Den instructors, all materials are provided, and no prior sewing experience is required.

Why Thrifted Fabric?

Because it matters. Part of what we teach at Unfold Den isn't just how to sew — it's how to think about what you're making and where materials come from. Working with thrifted fabric is hands-on sustainability education. Kids learn that something worn-out or passed-over can become something new and beautiful. That's a mindset worth building.

It also makes for more interesting projects. No two pieces of thrift fabric are exactly alike, which means no two campers end up with the same thing. Every project is genuinely one of a kind.

What If My Kid Has Never Sewn Before?

Perfect. Everything is designed for beginners. By the end of the week, your seamster will know how to thread a machine, wind a bobbin, sew straight lines and curves, and finish a real project from start to finish.

If your kid already knows their way around a machine, they'll go further and faster — instructors meet campers where they are.

Who Is This For?

Kids 7+ are welcome to join!

This is a skill-building camp with real creative stakes. Kids who thrive here tend to be curious, hands-on, and interested in making things. They don't have to be "crafty" — they just have to be willing to try.

Where and When?

Unfold Den is located at 3555 Pecos Street in Denver's Highlands neighborhood — LoHi, for locals. We're at 36th & Pecos, easy to find and easy to drop off.

Camps run Monday through Friday, with morning sessions and afternoon sessions. Spots are limited and fill up — especially for the week when both tracks overlap.

Ready to Register?

Browse the Seamsters summer camp schedule and reserve your spot on our Sewing Workshops Calendar. If you have questions about which track is right for your kid, reach out — we're happy to help you figure it out.

Come make something this summer. It'll be the week they talk about for a while!
