Are sewing machines provided?

Yes! Sewing machines are provided for all students. We use Brother NS80e machines in our studio. You're welcome to bring your own machine if you prefer — just make sure it's from the last 30 years and in working order.

How do I register for a class?

All classes and workshops are booked online through our scheduling system. Head to our calendar to browse upcoming classes and register. You can also purchase gift cards online if you're shopping for someone else.

How do I know what sewing level I am?

We have a full breakdown of our class levels — Absolute Beginner, Confident Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced — on our Sewing Class Levels page. If you're still not sure, just reach out and we'll point you in the right direction.

Do you offer Gift Cards?

Yes! Gift cards are available HERE and never expire. They make a great gift for anyone who's been curious about sewing.

Do you offer memberships or class packs?

We do! Check out our memberships page for current options.

Do I need to pre-register or can I walk in?

Pre-registration is required for all classes and workshops. This helps us make sure we have enough materials and machines ready for everyone.

What if I miss a session in Intro to Sewing?

Life happens! If you miss a session, we'll get you set up with a complimentary make-up during one of our Open Sew / Sew-cial hours so you can catch up at your own pace with instructor support nearby. If you need additional one-on-one time beyond that, we offer private lessons at $60/hour — just reach out to hello@unfoldden.com to schedule.

What is your cancellation policy?

Classes and workshops are non-refundable. If something comes up and you can't make it, contact us at hello@unfoldden.com at least 48 hours before your class and we'll work with you — usually in the form of an account credit toward a future class. See our full Terms & Conditions for details.

What happens if Unfold Den cancels a class?

If we cancel due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances, you'll receive a full refund or account credit — your choice.

What if I don't finish my project during class?

No problem! We host regular Open Sew / Sew-cial hours where you can continue your project at your own pace with over-the-shoulder support available.

What is the minimum age for kids classes?

Kids must be 7 years old or older. If you have a younger child who you believe is ready, reach out to us at hello@unfoldden.com and we'll set up a trial time with one of our instructors.

What materials do I need to bring?

Unless otherwise noted in the class description, nothing — we provide all fabric, tools, notions, and machines.

Can I use my own fabric?

In most cases, yes! If you'd like to use your own fabric for a project, just check the class description or reach out beforehand so we can make sure it's a good fit for what we're making.

Do you sell fabric or supplies?

We don't currently carry fabric or supplies in the studio. Sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on our latest offerings!

Can kids as young as 7 really learn to sew?

Absolutely! In fact, we've found that kids often pick it up much faster than adults!

Do parents need to stay during kids' classes?

Kids' classes are drop-off. For new students, parents and caregivers are welcome to stay for the first 15 minutes of the session to help with the transition — after that, we kindly ask that you wait in the hallway or return for pickup at the end of class. We find that kids settle in and focus much better once they have the space to dive in on their own! We'll reach out if anything comes up.

What is the Seamsters program?

Seamsters is our youth sewing program for tweens and teens, offered as an after-school club and seasonal camps. Students work through skill-building projects in a fun, low-pressure environment. Check our calendar for current session dates and enrollment info, or email us at hello@unfoldden.com.

Are summer camps available?

Yes, seasonally! Keep an eye on our calendar or sign up for our email list to be notified when camps open for enrollment.

What if I've never touched a sewing machine?

You are our favorite! We have classes designed for true beginners. We recommend starting with our Intro to Sewing workshop — no experience needed, and we'll walk you through everything from scratch.

How many participants are in each class?

Classes require a minimum of 2 students and typically have between 4–10 participants depending on the class type.

Can I gift a class?

Yes! Gift cards are available HERE.
